Description

Brazilian cook bananas in many ways although frying them in vegetable oil or butter is the probably the most popular. The bananas can be served just the way they come out of the pan as a side dish - very much as you would find in Cuba - or sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar for a sweet dessert.

Ingredients

2 bananas (choose ripe bananas, peel and cut in half lenghtwise)
1Tablespoonbutter
1⁄2Teaspooncinnamon

Instructions

  1. Heat butter on a frying pan over medium heat until it melts and bubbles -about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add the banana halves. Fry them on one side until golden brown and turn.
  3. Cook until the second side is golden brown. Remove and put the fried bananas on plates. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Serve immediately.

Notes

Substitute butter with margarine or vegetable oil to make it dairy free.
Substitute cinnamon with 1 Tbs cinnamon sugar.
If your frying pan does not have a non-stick lining, heat the frying pan over medium heat for 2 minutes. Add the oil or margarine and heat for a minute.
