Description

Apple sauce is simple to prepare. This particular recipe with its pinch of salt and goes very well with roasted meats, roasted pork in particular. If served cold, it is equally good with some cold meats.

Ingredients

1⁄2Cupwater
1⁄2Teaspooncinnamon
1Teaspoonsalt
1Tablespoonlemon juice (freshly squeezed)
1⁄2Cupbrown sugar (or more)

Instructions

Core and dice apples; place in saucepan, add water, salt, lemon juice and add sugar to taste. Cook covered for about 20 minutes.

Taste and add more sugar if required. Stir to dissolve. Simmer for 1 minute more.

Force through a sieve or use a food mill to puree and give it the texture and consistence of a sauce. Add the cinnamon. Serve warm or cold.
